An Update from Our Locust Valley, New York Project

Some homes ask to feel grand. Others ask to feel like home. Our Locust Valley project is a bit of both, a North Shore property with the bones for something special and a family who just wants to actually live in it once it's done.
We're deep in it right now, so we wanted to pull back the curtain a little. Here's where things stand, and a few of the things we're always watching for behind the scenes, whether we're working on a Long Island estate or an apartment in a city.
Where We Are Right Now With Our Locust Valley Design Project
Every choice so far has been about honoring the character of the home while making it feel current and completely livable for this family. It's the phase where a project starts to feel real. Samples arrive. Finishes get confirmed. The vision clients have been holding in their heads for months finally starts showing up in their hands.
What We're Watching For Along the Way
The details nobody else notices, until they're wrong. Outlet placement. Hardware finishes consistency. How a rug lays against a doorway threshold. These are the things that separate a good room from a great one, and it's exactly why we stay hands on through every phase instead of handing off and hoping.
How a space will actually be lived in. A beautiful kitchen means nothing if it doesn't work for how this family cooks, entertains, and moves through their day. We ask a lot of questions early on, not because we love paperwork, but because that's how a home ends up feeling personal instead of staged.
Timeline and budget, in real time. Nothing derails a project faster than surprises. We track lead times, flag potential delays before they happen, and keep clients looped in so there's never a scramble at the finish line.
The stress that doesn't need to exist. This is the big one. Renovating a home, especially a full scale one like Locust Valley, can feel overwhelming. Our job is to absorb that overwhelm so our clients don't have to carry it. That's the whole point of a turnkey process: fewer decisions landing on the client's desk, more decisions handled by people who do this for a living.
